Warren Smith

// Head of Sports & Factual

As Head of Sport and Factual at Box To Box Films, Warren is responsible for overseeing and delivering our slate of premium docu series, including Full Swing, Le Tour, Six Nations Rugby, Break Point and Drive to Survive for Netflix, and Make or Break for AppleTV+. As well as Executive Producing the aforementioned series, Warren also served as Show Runner on both Season 1 of Full Swing and Make or Break.

Vicky Boyens

// Post Production Executive

Vicky joined Box To Box as a Post Production Supervisor in 2022 after many years working in the industry in a number of different roles. She is the Post Supervisor on the award winning Drive To Survive series and a Post Production Executive working across a number of different productions. She also manages the running of Box’s Hoxton edit facility.

Rafael Bettega

// Technical Editor

Rafael is our in-house tech person, specialist in Avid workflows, archive footage, hardware, data management, infrastructure and other technical issues. He works across all our projects, overseeing pre-production to post production ensuring all teams follow the best practices throughout the process. Rafael is instrumental in supervising complex edits and facilitating successful turnover to our post-production facility. He also plays a vital role in the ongoing technical development of our in-house edit facilities and post-production, supporting our production teams from rushes and DIT until deliveries, in different capacities. Rafael holds a BA (Hons) in Editing and Post Production from Ravensbourne University and has been part of the core team since 2013.

James Gay-Rees

// Co-Founder

James is the Academy Award winning producer behind some of the most critically successful feature-documentaries of the last ten years, namely Academy Award nominated EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP, double BAFTA winning SENNA, Academy Award and BAFTA winning AMY. In 2016 the Producers Guild of America awarded James for Outstanding Producer of the year. More recently James has been Executive Producer of the Netflix hit, FORMULA 1: DRIVE TO SURVIVE.

Samantha Lawrence

// Managing Director

Samantha joined Box to Box as Managing Director, responsible for the day to day running of the business mainly in terms of commercial operations and P&L responsibility but also in terms of the overall Company growth and development strategy. She joined in October 2022 from Universal International Studios’ award-winning label, Monkey Kingdom, where she served as Managing Director. Over her five-year tenure, she grew the business exponentially, making it a go-to destination for high-quality unscripted shows such as BAFTA-recognised Made in Chelsea. In 2021, it was celebrated as Multichannel Production Company of the Year at the Broadcast Digital Awards. With a career that spans over 20 years in the content industry, Samantha has held a host of senior positions, including a nine-year stint as Managing Director of Silver River Productions, and prior to that, Head of Production for both Love Productions and Maverick Television.

Nat Knight

// Production Executive- LA

Nat Knight is a television production leader with more than 24 years of experience, overseeing the creation of highly-rated programming.  Nat joined the BTB US office in its infancy, early 2023, and as an Aussie, sport is in her blood, thus leading to the ultimate collaboration.

Nat previously worked for Original Productions, as Director, Physical Production, and Beyond Productions as a Production Accountant and Administrator of US Operations.

Amy Sargeant

// Development Assistant Producer

Amy joined Box to Box in November 2021 as a senior researcher on Berlusconi, before being promoted to the role of Development AP. Amy pitches and develops ideas across the slate, including developing Netflix’s Break Point, Full Swing and Drop Kick.

Since starting her career as a Grierson Doclab Trainee and Creative Access Intern, Amy has worked at a range of UK production companies including BBC Studios, Twenty Twenty, RDF, Doc Hearts and on Ricochet’s BAFTA-nominated series of The Repair Shop. Prior to joining Box to Box, Amy was at The Garden working on 24 Hours in A&E.

Outside of work Amy makes her own documentaries, and her latest short Canarios won ‘Best Documentary’ at the Soho London Independent Film Festival.

Alexandra Allen

EA to James Gay-Rees & Samantha Lawrence

Alexandra started with us in February 2023, who had come from Picture Shop (was The Farm) and has hit the ground running. She has 15 years experience of being a PA/EA in the world of Post Production and has now flipped sides and is working in the fast pace of Production.

Jason Cooper

// VP,Production- LA

Jason Cooper is an accomplished production executive with over 25 years’ experience in scripted and unscripted television.  Prior to being hired by Box to Box Films in October 23′, Jason was the Head of Production for Amazon Original Prime Sports and a Sr Production Executive for Amazon Studios US and Canada Unscripted Team.  Jason has worked most of his career in unscripted and has delivered to almost every linear broadcaster and digital streamer. Jason has worked in every genre of unscripted television including; follow-docs, documentary, house reality, game shows, live and live-to-tape, stage shows, true crime and sports.  He truly enjoys what he does and is always excited about new technology and staying up to speed.  Before getting into unscripted TV Jason worked on some of the biggest television shows in the US; ER, Ally McBeal, West Wing, X-Files to name a few.  In his spare time Jason loves to spend time with his wife and two daughters, is an avid skier and true soccer dad.  His favorite night out includes taking his wife and daughters to watch Angel City (NWSL) take the pitch.

Renee Browning

// HR Contracts Manager

After 30 years in film and TV in Australia and the UK, mostly sports (including two Olympics), working in production and broadcast venue management, Renée has moved into HR and people practices at Box to Box Films, with a particular interest in all things wellbeing. Her production journey took her to a wide variety of genres such as Entertainment, Children’s and News, but has come back full circle to work in sports and non-scripted once again. Renée is extremely proud to be working with the amazing staff and crew at Box to Box Films.

Mariana Rosales is the Development and Office Coordinator at the Box to Box Films US office. She’s a graduate of Cal State Northridge Film Program who started out her career in Spanish Broadcasting Television in 2011. Then made her way to Reality TV early in her career. Mariana has worked on reality television shows, docuseries, stage shows, and travel shows during her 13 years of consistent work in the entertainment industry.

Natalie Silver

// EA- LA

After working at Creative Artists Agency on a desk in non-fiction television, Natalie joined Box To Box as Executive Assistant to Co-Founder Paul Martin. She works closely with the development team researching and pitching ideas, writing decks, and creatively contributing to projects across the development slate and current programming. As EA, she manages Paul’s schedule, coordinates travel, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the LA office. She is Box To Box’s first U.S. hire and has been with the team since the opening of the LA office in January, 2023.

Seb Castle

// Development Executive

Seb has worked within factual development for ten years, but in the last few his focus has been on premium character-driven documentaries. On the Development team at Lightbox and at Plum Pictures before that, Seb worked across an access-led Serena Williams series for Amazon, a mountaineering feature film for Red Bull and a true-crime limited series for Apple. He loves to help craft gripping stories that are full of twists and turns – and the more surprising or innovative the subject or subgenre the better!

Lia Carney

// SVP, Production and Operations- LA

Lia Carney is a seasoned production executive with nearly two decades of experience in various areas of the entertainment industry and currently serving as SVP, Production and Operations at Box to Box Films US. Prior to BTB Lia was partner in scripted and unscripted production company, Topspin Content and Senior Vice President of Production and Operations at Discovery Studios, where Lia played a pivotal role in strategic business planning, studio operations, and production management. Earlier in her career, Lia Carney contributed as a producer for networks such as History Channel, Travel Channel, TNT, CNN, TLC, the Discovery Channel, and PBS.

Megan Cronin

PA to our Director of Production, and the Head of Sports and Factual

Megan joined in 2023, leaving her role as Education Coordinator at the BFI.
Prior to that, Megan spent a decade working in Theatre, most recently as an EA & Participation Coordinator at English Touring Theatre.

A Freelance Documentary-Theatre Director & Writer, Megan has had her work performed at The Young Vic, The Tate Modern, The Albany, The Kings Head, & The Pleasance. Twice nominated for the Beam New Writing Award, in 2019 she was Young Vic’s writer in residence for Climate Lab.

Emily Freshwater

Emily joined in 2019 and works closely with our Director of Production, overseeing all aspects of production across the slate. She has extensive knowledge and experience of production and line management having worked across various documentary and factual entertainment programmes for multiple production companies including Tin Roof Media, The Garden, Mentorn, Illuminations and RDF. Past credits include 24 HOURS IN A&E, THE CHICKEN SHOP, and the BAFTA-winning FAKING IT series.

Ribeka Seyoum

// Development Researcher

Since breaking onto the scene as an intern at Box to Box Films, Ribeka has helped develop some of our extraordinary series over the last year – from Netflix’s Break Point to upcoming series World’s Fastest Human.

She previously interned at Quicksilver Media for Channel 4 series Unreported World, before pursuing journalism, both which fuelled her ultimate desire to unearth compelling human narratives and illuminate untold stories. She’s looking forward for the world to witness what more is brewing from the development team!

Paul is a BAFTA-nominated producer specialising in high-end documentaries and premium unscripted series. He is currently Executive Producer of the Netflix global hit FORMULA 1: DRIVE TO SURVIVE. He was also Executive Producer of the acclaimed MARADONA for HBO MAKE OR BREAK, a behind-the-scenes documentary series following the World Surf League, for Apple. Paul has also worked with Amazon, HBO and ESPN to create innovative and engaging content across multiple formats.

Martin Conway

Martin is a BAFTA-winning Executive Producer with twenty years of experience producing documentary and factual series. He Series Produced 24 Hours in A&E for Channel 4, Becoming You for Apple TV+ and won a BAFTA as Series Editor of First Dates. At Box to Box Martin is responsible for developing and producing premium unscripted series and is Executive Producer of Wanted: The Escape of Carlos Ghosn for Apple TV+ and sports docu-series Six Nations: Full Contact for Netflix.

Milly Beddard

// Director of Production

Milly is an Emmy award-winning Director of Production who joined Box to Box in 2014 in its infancy and has helped it grow to the multi million pound company it is today. Originally as Head of Production she has been responsible for overseeing all projects, the day to day running of the company, recruitment, project planning, budgeting and delivering alongside the negotiations, development and maintenance of relationships with the major US broadcasters.

Starting out in independent British cinema, Milly cut her teeth in film production, delivering international projects to broadcasters and studios including the BBC, Sky, Universal Studios and Lionsgate.

Imogen Stringer

Imogen has been working in production for over 20 years, including stints at the BBC, Nutopia, The Garden and Naked – and most recently working on the ‘other side’ at Amazon Unscripted. She says she couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work on Box to Box’s fantastic and varied content.
